Regenerative & Recovery Care

Autologous, allogeneic, cultured and non-cultured are not interchangeable

Autologous treatment uses material from the patient. Allogeneic treatment uses donor-derived cells or tissue. Processing also matters: limited processing and ex-vivo expansion/culture can result in very different products, quality-control requirements, and regulatory pathways.

Important

  • autologous does not automatically mean safe
  • cultured does not automatically mean more effective
  • two products with the same cell label may differ substantially by manufacturing

Ask

  • whose cells?
  • which tissue source?
  • cultured or expanded?
  • what manufacturing facility?
  • what sterility and release testing?
